Well, said the festival. Of him we could say many things: the main window on the Italian film festival in Central and Eastern Europe; a container of 130 titles (or so) between feature-length documentaries, fiction, short films, a week of really hard to see movies in theaters Italian, Italian previews, discovered and rediscovered by newcomers to the great authors, the only Italian competition of documentaries dedicated to this geographic area, events, exhibitions, concerts, etc.. For me though, the festival has always been and always will be even more: an opportunity that came in mia vita quando davvero non me lo aspettavo; una rispettabilità di manifestazione conquistata a suon di scelte e conservata con le unghie e con i denti; migliaia di persone che affollano le sale; incontri con persone interessanti; un gruppo di lavoro che, pur nelle sue umanissime incomprensioni, riesce a resistere alle sferzate dei gusti altalenanti della politica, alla crisi economica, al richiamo di guadagni più facili; la passione, la voglia di fare, le ore piccole, la visione di un film che ti sorprende, la finestra aperti su altri mondi, così lontani eppure – almeno per una settimana – così vicini. Più di tutto, però, il festival è per me una delle cose più belle che mi sento di aver fatto nella mia life. Beautiful to me, of course. A film that I love much (I can say too much, my section is not competitive, so ...) because it speaks of many firsts: the first drink, the first disappointment, the first rebellion, the first love ... period full of hope and dreams.
