Invita la gente alla conversione, come faceva Giovanni Battista e come farà anche Pietro il giorno della Pentecoste, cioè c'invita a dare importanza al Signore, per poter vivere in un mondo di luce, dove regni la giustizia e la pace. Questo è possibile se lo prendiamo sul serio, ed è anche per questo che chiama alcuni a seguirlo, affinché lo possano conoscere meglio e diventare i suoi più stretti collaboratori. Molti lo hanno ascoltato e dato retta, altri no.

Grazie a questo Gesù avrà i suoi primi discepoli; quei due giovanotti che gli domanderanno maldestramente:
"Maestro, dove abiti?".
Questo è un servizio molto importante perché capita anche oggi che Gesù è presente vicino a qualcuno e l'interessato non se ne rende conto.
Poter vedere e riconoscere Gesù presente nella nostra vita e nelle nostre situazioni è certamente un aiuto; ma non sempre riusciamo a vederlo.
Ecco perché chi riesce a vederlo e a farlo vedere a chi ne ha bisogno, fa un'opera grande sia di aiuto che di evangelizzazione.
