Episcopo Pro-Mass and Opening of the Jubilee Year of St. Modestino
E’ un anno nel quale we are called to reflect on our particular Church, its presence on the way to go. It must be remembered that the Church of the martyrs has been able to find with great confidence and with a political instinct illuminated by grace balance, so she could scream no to his absolutist rule of imperial despotism, to find a "yes", pronounced with the lips from shock quakes of death in the same state persecutor of Christianity, and this marks one of the greatest advances in human history (H. Rahner). Christian service to the State is to preserve the greatness of this, although considered inferior to that of God "Great is the emperor, because it is more little of the sky "(Tertullian). Both of the persecution that began with the glow of the torches of Nero's persecution and that flowing into the river of blood for the massacres ordered by Diocletian in which perished in the tradition Saints Modestino, Fiorentino and Flavian to the new martyrs of our time. San Modestino came from Antioch, where the opening of the universal Catholic Church, the Gospel is no longer restricted to Jews and proselytes was opened to the Gentiles. The Church of Antioch is in fact the first community established by the proclamation of the gospel also to the Greeks (cf. Acts 11: 19-20). A second aspect is the presence of various ministries at Antioch (Acts 13) were «profeti e maestri» e ne viene fatto un elenco che comprende anche Barnaba e Saulo.

ALBANIA COUNTRY HEART FROM YOUNG AND OLD SAN Pelino

S. Pelino Bishop and Martyr ancient popular press

Brindisi, Cathedral of S. Pelino, reliquary of St. Pelino

Brindisi, Cathedral, Reliquary Statue of St. Pelino Albania, one of the youngest nation in Europe, is directed toward the development and full integration in Europe and advocated.
Point out the intense activity of the Catholic Mission "Danjel Dajami" Blinisht of the diocese of Sape, region of northern Albania-the Zadrima.
A Catholic and Orthodox church alive and engaged in pastoral and social rebirth. A Church that is reclaiming its rich historic and religious heritage, even in the liturgy and the return of Albanians saints who contributed to the evangelization of the first centuries of the Apostles.
This mission founded by the dynamic D. Antonio Sciarra, fidei donum missionary of the Diocese of Avezzano (L'Aquila). In this region, in addition to the full recovery of the religious heritage of Albania and social works and social welfare, the last time we hear with joy the desire to reintroduce the charisma in Albania and the Christian witness of his saints. In particular, S. Pelino Bishop of Brindisi, a native of Durazzo the sixth century.

Invite friends to want to take the initiative letters of appreciation be sent to the Episcopal Conference of Albania, because it reintroduced the cult of St. Pelino also in the mother country: Albania. E 'in a survey course of life and worship by the tiny bit of the writer, John Deacon Orsogna to support the initiative. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

NEWS FROM Marsica

Pilgrimage of the Albanian community Cathedral of Blinisht Corfinio

Ultimo aggiornamento sabato 08 gennaio 2011
For that occasion the Bishop of Sulmona

application forwarded to the Congregation for Divine Worship

can bring a piece of the relic that is Corfinio. So, after centuries of silence S. Pelino, who was born in Durres, Bishop Brindisi, martyred in

Corfinio, returns in his Albania. E 'should be emphasized that a State of the Marsi, in ancient times, enthusiastically welcomed his
preaching and took the name with the name of the saint: San Pelino. The pilgrimage of the Albanians
Corfinio was a moment of high
prayer and communion between the churches.

And that's nice to know that St. Pelino few months will be more revered in his homeland, Durres, Albania, and that
fedlei between the Albanian and Italian, is a bridge of communion
banner of holiness.
from Irpinia, too, from Rocca San Felice, from Ariano Irpino friends are associated in support of the excellent program that will allow alll'Albania to regain possession of the gifts of holiness and church of its origins, thanks to the charity of the church testimonaizna Albanian, which over the centuries of persecution offered some of his children for the love of Christ and the Church. • Preg.mo Director Christian East
Dear Director,
time I follow with great interest in his writings between loving Albania, my wife, who is of Greek origin arbresh-Katundi (Av) has always encouraged me to further study on Albania, particularly on the literature and ecclesiastical history . The common friendship, with thirty D. Antonio Sciarra, winner Mother Teresa of Calcutta, awarded by the President of the Republic of Albania, fidei donum missionary in the region of Zadrima, despite his illness, continues to support the Catholic Mission "Danjel Dajani" in Blinisht (Lesh) Albania, with numerous health and social, religious and social promotion and training, has allowed me to be bound by fraternal ties with the Mission fidei donum and Albania.
come to our attention that the Catholic Church in Albania has long maintained the initiative to regain possession of religious values, but still an old church has been reborn thanks to the testimony of "martyrdom" in the last century, and is engaged in the exploitation of its sons who have honored the saints and with the shedding of blood for the old and the new evangelization.
Let me ask you the courtesy of expressing a wish to your liking, you can then send to the Episcopal Conference of Albania, for the reintroduction of the original Martyr Bishop of Durres, S. Pelino, Bishop of the See of Brindisi.
E 'A study on the holy bishop S. Pelino and the origin of Christianity with reference to the ecclesiastical history of Albania. All this is part of the effort of the Albanian Church, to regain possession of its origins, the new evangelization.

Tutto farà sperare in bene!

Cordialmente

San Pelino bishop and martyr
bishop and martyr Birth Durazzo (?), About 620
Death Corfinio, 662 Venerable by the Catholic Church Canonization 668 Recurrence December 5 Pelino (approximately 620 - Corfinio December 5, 662) was bishop of Brindisi in the seventh century and is revered as a saint by the Catholic Church.

Pelino was perhaps a monaco original basilica of Durres. Monothelite opponent of heresy spread to Byzantium, during the first emperor Heraclius Constans II and then with (648), is moved to Brindisi with the disciples Gorgonio, Sebastian and Cyprus. The clash between Rome and Byzantium sharpened to the point that the pope excommunicated the patriarch Sergio Martino and heretics, but he was arrested, deported to Constantinople and finally exiled to Cherson (Crimea), where he died in the (655). In Brindisi, the intransigence and the loyalty of Pelino, meanwhile associated Episcopate by Bishop Procolo, led him to break with the positions of the court of Constantinople. On the death of Bishop Procolo, Pelino was appointed Bishop of Brindisi, but officials of the Byzantine empire by order of the Basileus Corfinio deported him to where he was sentenced to death and killed along with his disciples on December 5, probably the year 662. Worship
The canonization occurred in 668 (after the death of Constans II) by Cyprus, his successor in the diocese of Brindisi. On that occasion he was also drawn up a life of the saint, perhaps by the same powder that may have made in Brindisi first place of worship of his predecessor. For centuries it has been home to Brindisi with St. Leucio. In 1771 he was dedicated at the Cathedral of Brindisi, where an altar is represented by his martyrdom in a canvas painted by Oronzo Tiso. It is the patron saint of the diocese of Sulmona-Valva, a basilica dedicated to the saint is Corfinio the Marsi and his cult is attested to by the name di un paese, San Pelino nei pressi di Avezzano, dove sarebbe passato al ritorno di un viaggio da Roma. Da notare che nel Martirologio Romano il rimando cronologico è al IV secolo, sulla scorta del fatto che la tradizione locale ha sempre ritenuto Pelino successore quasi diretto del protovescovo Leucio: "A Pentima in Abruzzo san Pelino vescovo di Brindisi, il quale sotto Giuliano Apostata (essendo caduto alle di lui orazioni il Tempio di Marte) da' Pontefici de' Tempii fieramente battuto e trafitto con ottantacinque ferite, meritò la corona del martirio". Diffusione del culto: Corfinio in Abruzzo, diocesi di Avezzano (dei Marsi) luogo del martirio 662 d. C. circa;
Brindisi San Leucio patron of the diocese, the cathedral is dedicated, Sulmona-Valva, patron saint of the diocese and the owner of the cathedral.

Card S. Pelino

San Pelino Bishop of Brindisi

December 5

Sec VII

  • The episcopate of Pelino must be seen in cultural climate of the seventh century, in the years immediately preceding the destruction of the Lombard Brindisi 674. This new chronological reference, more reliable than the traditional one that places the episcopate tiny bit in the fourth century, makes full understanding of the biography of the saint.

Pelino, coi suoi compagni, è anch'egli defender of orthodoxy and in Brindisi, whose bishops were confirmed by Rome, he plans to find a safe haven. It must however realize that it is not so, the bishop or Aproculus Proculus seems conciliatory positions that had already been the Pope Honorius I own The arrival of Albanian refugees on a very radical positions, but does not let a policy of mediation. Pelino push up clear positions in defense of orthodoxy. Proculus with unusual procedure but there is no lack of examples comparable, then associated with the newcomer in the episcopate and designated as his successor. To this end, the endorsement is required papal synods had in fact consistently opposed any attempt of the bishops of designated un successore.
The act penalizes the canonization of Pelino of which, for the occasion, life has been written to be proposed as a paradigm for the population.
In the Basilica Cathedral of Brindisi's altar was dedicated in 1771 that closes the left aisle, where it is represented on a canvas painted by Oronzo Tiso (1726-1800). His memory, 5 December, was for centuries largely being considered as solemnized Pelino main protector of the city along with Leucio.
